Bonn is the former capital of Germany. After re-unification the government left Bonn and made themselves a new home in the capital of old: Berlin.
Bonn is also the city where I currently live and work. It’s situated right at the banks of the rhine river, about 40 km south of Cologne, which we Germans call Köln.
Not very far from Bonn, maybe 45 minutes by car, you find the Rheinisches Freilichtmuseum. There, ancient villages from the area of the Eiffel, Kölner Bucht, Rheintal and other areas around the Rhine River are rebuilt in somewhat smaller versions and you will find that they are maintained and working. In one village they bake bread and cakes in an old stone oven, in another corner you find a typical garden of village people form 300 years ago.
