France

In France I have been twice so far. The first time was about 10 years ago when I went on a trip to Paris. Back then I found the French people quite arrogant, so I went back 8 years later to verify this impression. To save the reputation of the French people, I have to say that they were much more friendly than the first time. Must have met only weird people or people who were sick of German tourists on my first visit :-).

Here I would like to show a few impressions that I had when I visited Paris the second time with a friend of mine.

The symbol of Paris, if not of France. The Eiffel Tower. Of course I went up the tower... but by elevator. After a day of my friend dragging me through museums, art galleries and shopping malls, I did not feel I cold climb this tower anymore. It’s quite tall, by the way. When the elevator went up I felt a little funny.

Paris by night. I don’t think I could live in this city. Although it’s quite beautiful, it never appears to sleep. No matter wether it’s 3 o’clock in the afternoon or 4 in the morning, there is always rush hour traffic and the streets are full of people.

Paris the city of art. Besides the big ones like the Louvre, Notre Dame and the like there are literally hunderes, if not thousands of smaller sculptures in the streets and squares, aruond the buildings and in the parks. This one invited me to take a picture of myself (in the reflecting surface in the centre).
