My gardening efforts can be grouped roughly into three different areas. As I said, cacti were and still are my favorites and constitute the first group.

When I was still a student I was looking for a nice flowering plant for our room in the students hostel. Against the common belief I found orchids to be rather hardy plants that survive quite nicely on a watering a week and the occasional shot of fertilizer. Well, at least that applies to the species of orchids sold in the supermarket and garden centers. Mostly these plants will belong to the genus Phalaenopsis, Oncidium and Miltonia.

The third group of plants that I keep can not be summarized by one general name, so I just called the page “Other Plants”. There you mainly find a variety of tropical plants from carnivorous sundew and venus fly trap to hibiscus, coffee, lotus and many many others. This page will keep on expanding, so it’s best to check this site regularly for updates.
